Experience Education, a nonprofit educational corporation, develops products, projects, and programs utilizing its staff of writers and developers. Families For Prevention® was developed to meet one of our nation’s most urgent needs -- strengthening families.

Experience Education has a history of “firsts.” Conceived under the name “Southwest Iowa Learning Resources Center” in 1966, it was the first media center of its kind in Iowa and one of the first in the nation. Original funding came from the United States Office of Education. The concept of supplementing traditional teaching materials with media and other non-print packaged materials set a national precedent.

Experience Education has been in the business of designing and developing educational products and service systems for all ages since its inception thirty-four years ago.

Media Now, the first complete media study program in the nation, was created in 1970 for high school students to study radio, television, and film through a system of fifty laboratory learning kits. Over one thousand schools in all fifty states adopted the program.

Project Discovery, developed from 1972-79, was the first “hands-on” career and vocational education program. It is still being marketed to schools and vocational rehabilitation centers throughout the English speaking world. Sixty multi-media kits were developed.

Both of the above curriculum systems have received the highest commendation possible in education -- approval of the Joint Dissemination Review Panel, Department of Education, Washington, D.C. and mass adoptions in thousands of schools.

Families For Prevention® is the most recent developmental project. This unique in-home education system is designed for use by parents of children from birth through elementary school.

Cooperative projects with such groups as the Southwest Iowa Latino Resource Center, United States National Guard, State Departments of Education, University of Nebraska at Omaha, California State University at Monterey Bay, Girls & Boys Town, and school districts throughout the United States, as well as numerous public and private corporations and foundations, have made Experience Education one of the leading curriculum development groups in the USA.

Experience Education maintains offices in Omaha, Nebraska; Red Oak, Iowa;
Washington, D.C.; Monterey, California; and Oxford, England.
